Amateur footballers took to the field in the city of Padang in Indonesia on Sunday despite the thick haze hanging over the city.

One of the players told reporters he and his teammates weren't bothered by the risk of breathing problems.

Hundreds of thousands of people in Indonesia are reported to have suffered respiratory difficulties as a result of the smog which is also affecting Malaysia and Singapore.

Middle-aged men were seen playing football even though the city of Padang, West Sumatra was being hit by haze. They played without using masks. The middle-aged men were not bothered at all by the presence of smog sent from the Riau province. According to Mastilizal Aye, one of the players said, he and his friends did not pay attention to the haze that could disturb their respiratory tract because football was not just a hobby, but like a part of themselves. The way they had done so as not to be affected by respiratory disorders was by not forcing to play like an ordinary day because it was flat - their age is already over 40 years.
