Large herds of wild elephants have been raiding farms in central India recently, causing despair and panic among locals.

According to local media, some 95 animals have been entering farms in the Koenjhar and Mayurbhanj districts of Odisha state.

The elephants stand accused of destroying crops and some homes.

Footage filmed on Saturday showed the herds raiding crops with villagers looking on helplessly.

Locals claim not have received government compensation for the damage to their crops, according to reports.

According to sources, 95 numbers of a herd of elephants in different range havoc in two district. The herd of Jambos are very cleverly staying in the border jungle of both district. Sometimes they come to villages of Mayurbhanj and destroying acores of paddy crops and sometimes they are moving towards villages of Kenojhar district and destroying houses and paddy crops. Jambos are not in mood to returned jharkhand. Villagers of more than 20 to 30 village are in fear. Forest department of both district failure to move them. Villagers are lossen their houses and newly cultivated crops. Government also is in mute position. More than 20 death case reported in 3 to 4 months.

Now 95 elephants are in our Keonjhar bano khand in different range. To protect elephants as well as villagers we made squad and we tracking everyday. Where elephants are moving our squad trying to move them towards forest and immediately we asking the report where they destroyed and give them compensation said Sontosh Joshi, DFO. Keonjhar.

Villagers are alleged that we never got our compensation as per we lost our houses and crops. Administration also not assessment our exact loss.
