Rescue workers were today (September 23) battling to save two people trapped inside a collapsed hotel in the Philippines.
Several people were seriously injured when the Hotel Sogo building collapsed at around 9.30 am local time in the Malate area of the capital Manila.
It is understood to have been unused at the time and awaiting demolition when the incident happened.
Officials said the two men trapped inside the rubble were Jerome Fabello and Melo Izon. Fire crews were battling to free them this afternoon.
The Manila Public Information Office said that a nearby hospital had been put on alert to accommodate those injured.
