This is the moment the first Thomas Cook plane was impounded at an airport in northwest England just after midnight when the travel company went bust.

Onlookers said the video shows representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) climbing the plane steps at Manchester Airport on Monday (September 23) morning.

It happened moments after the holiday company missed the 11:59 deadline set by creditors, witnesses said.

The video appears to show CAA officials being escorted up to one of the planes by airport staff and sticking a notice on the door.
