Officers workers were terrified after a spitting cobra was seen outside their building.

Staff noticed the Rinkhals snake, or more commonly called a ring-necked spitting cobra, outside the workplace in Casserdale South Africa on September 18.

The employees said that snaked had caused panic after slithering into their car park - preventing them from driving home.

Rescuers were called to come to the scene. One of the respondents, Frans Louw, said no one was hurt and the snake was taken back to the wild safely.

He said: "We took it back to its habitat. We have been trained to handle them so no one was hurt."

The Rinkhals is a species of venomous elapid found in parts of southern Africa.
