A curious manatee gives two swimmers a shock and scares them back to shore on Florida's west coast.

The large marine mammal is seen gliding through the water on September 22 before the two girls spot the dark object in the water and they both quickly swim back to the shore.

The filmer told Newsflare: "Two girls were swimming about 125 feet from the beach when they spotted a dark shape in the water coming towards them.

"Not realizing it was a manatee, they both swam to shore as fast as they could.

"The manatee has been dubbed 'Boo' because he regularly swims along the beach and startles people."
