This is the shocking moment a heartless motorcyclist rides away after knocking over a schoolgirl.

Sirintorn Charoenrum, 10, was crossing the road to reach classes when she was hit by a rider - travelling the wrong way down a one-way street - in Samut Prakan, Thailand.

CCTV footage from a nearby grocery shop captured the moment the little girl was hit on Tuesday (September 24) morning.

Sirintorn was flung into the air and landed several metres away. Instead of stopping to help her, the rider fled.

Onlookers rushed to help the girl whose mother, Uthaiwan , 31, arrived on the scene and collected her daughter.

Uthaiwan said: "This man is monstrous, he rode on the wrong side of the road and hit my daughter and then rode away. It's lucky she was not killed.''

The schoolgirl told her mother about the incident but blamed herself - and only mentioned that she was just clipped by the motorcycle.

The mother took her daughter home but later went to the hospital when the pain from her injuries became too much.

Uthaiwan later asked nearby residents for CCTV footage of the incident and was angry when she saw how badly her daughter was hit. She suffered cuts and bruises on her thighs knees, body and arms.

The mother added: ''My little girl did not do anything wrong. She checked the cars first but was not expecting someone to be driving in the wrong direction. She tried to carry on because she didn't make a big story about it but she was hurting from the injuries.''

The careless rider, identified as Anuchit Suwancharoen, surrendered himself to police this afternoon (25/09) when police began searching for him.

Police Major Tharawuth Chaiyasan said: ''We have to wait for the little girl to feel better then she can testify about the crime before we charge the suspect."
