Shocking footage shows Indian fishermen catch and sell endangered whale shark
Shocking footage shows how fishermen off the east coast of India caught an endangered whale shark on September 18, and went on to illegally sell it for a large sum.
The fishermen operate out of Dhamara fishing harbour in Bhadrak district, Odisha state, and caught a whale shark named 'Don Sagar' weighing over 107kg.
Fishermen sold this whale shark for a sum of INR 749,000 (around £8540). The sale and catching of endangered fish is illegal under the Indian Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.
