A video has emerged of a thief accidentally revealing his identity while raiding a temple in northern India's Himachal Pradesh state.

The incident, which was captured on CCTV camera in the , took place a little after 2:00am on September 26 near a village in Kullu district.

Visuals showed the thief, who had his face covered with a plastic bag, entering the sacred chamber and bowing down to the gods of the shrine and lifting his mask.

Later, however, he resorted to stealing some objects from the temple, but unfortunately for him had forgotten to lower his mask and gave away his identity.

Visuals showed the thief, who had his face covered with a plastic bag, entering the sacred chamber and bowing down to the Gods.

Later, he resorted to stealing items.

However, it is not clear what he took with him as he exited the room after a brief stay.

During his stay, the thief also lifted the plastic cover to facilitate better viewing.

The raid was carried out a little after 2 a.m.
