Developing Supercell Wall Cloud

Buy video

In this video timelapse, this is the early stage development of a supercell and it's wall cloud.

This was filmed just west of Sundre, AB on a day known as 'pop n drop' where a storm cell will begin to develop and turn into a storm before losing all it's energy and dissipating into the sky.

Here, in this timelapse you see a couple lightning strikes of this storm gaining momentum and really showing off it's energy, however 15 minutes after it started to develop that little wall cloud it started to dissipate and lose it's energy

The rotating clouds you see at the bottom of the cloud are what you call a mesocyclone. It is responsible for holding and development of a Tornado, should conditions be met.

This timelapse was shot with the following equipment in the following process:
-Canon 5D MKIII
-Canon 17-35F4
-Manfrotto Tripod and Ball Head

The process:
-One photo taken every 60 seconds for approximately 23 minutes resulting in just over 1400 photographs.
-Photos then compiled using specialised timelapse software.
-Process for post production takes roughly 3-4 hours for this clip.
