Tourists enjoy the beautiful views over terraced rice fields in northern Thailand this morning (30/09).

The end of the monsoon rainy season has seen cooler temperatures as the first crops from the unique arrangement of layered paddy fields start to grow.

Thailand's former King Bhumibol Adulyadej created the rice plantation, Doi Khun Pae, as part of a project in Chiang Mai province, to help the region's tribal people find an alternative source of income to opium poppy production.

It has since become a popular tourist attraction for visitors to pose in front of the mountain views when the rice starts to grow.
