Baby born with seven limbs undergoes life-changing surgery in north India
A 24-year-old woman in India gave birth to a child born with four legs and three hands, that has had to undergo surgery to safely remove the extra limbs.
The baby was one of a set of twins, with the other twin was perfectly healthy, leading doctors to believe the woman was initially pregnant with triplets when one baby absorbed extra limbs from the third unborn fetus.The first-time mother hadn't had any medical checkups throughout her pregnancy and had no idea she was at one point expecting triplets, let alone that she would be giving birth to twins. The baby was transferred to SPMCHI Hospital in Jaipur and currently undergoing tests and will soon be operated and doctors say they are confident that the extra limbs can be safely removed during surgery. This case is believed to be the first instance of two naturally born triplets being conjoined. The couple who live in a remote village works as daily labour and were expecting their first child together.Due to lack of facility in their village and their financial status they had never gone for Ultrasound screening.
