An indie band who were on the cusp of fame recorded an album for Rough Trade Records and are set to release it - 31 years later.

The Motorcycle Boy could have been cult icons along with Scottish rockers from the same era, such as the Pastels and the Vaselines.

Back in 1987 they were hotly tipped and appeared on the front cover of the NME, with their hit single, Big Rock Candy Mountain, reaching number three in the indie charts.

The five-piece, who were fronted by a female singer, signed to Rough Trade Records and produced a debut album, appeared in moody black-and-white photos dressed in leathers lounging around on an East London street.
