My friend, Davis Owens, and I, Andrew Oswalt, went kayaking and free diving in search of lost valuables and river treasure in the Chattahoochee River. We found stolen purses, stolen bicycles, lost fishing gear, a barbie doll, and most importantly, an unregistered, illegally owned gun. The police were notified and we turned the possible evidence over to the government to assist in any unresolved cases. The gun was fully loaded with a bullet in the chamber and had not been legally registered. It was a handgun, 9 mil. It was found directly under a car bridge that joins both sides of the city in a very urban and usually family friendly place. Many kayakers float this river every week. I am curious of what this gun could have been a part of and who was in possession of it. Was it intentionally thrown in or accidentally lost? I guess we will never know!
