A video has emerged of two masked men carrying out a heist inside a gold shop in southern India.

The incident, which was caught on CCTV cameras, took place at the Lalitha Jewellery showroom in Tamil Nadu's Tiruchirappalli district on Oct. 2.

Visuals showed two men dressed in animal-shaped masks, crawl inside the store and emptying the shelves.

The robbers did not relent after cleaning the shelves and even emptied the cash registers.

According to reports, the total loot was worth Rs 50 crore with gold jewelry costing Rs 13 crore.

The incident was found out after employees opened the store in the following morning.

The pair gained access after breaking a portion of the wall, reports said.

Following inquiries, a case has been registered and special teams have been formed to nab the robbers.

Cops are also tracing phone calls made and received during that time around the spot.

Reposts said some fingerprint samples were collected by forensic experts from the spot.

Earlier in January, a similar incident unfolded at a branch of Punjab National Bank in the same district.

The robbers made away with the contents of five lockers, reports added.
