This is the heartwarming moment fishermen cut loose a turtle that was tangled in a loose net.

Anucha Boontaeng, 42, noticed the turtle struggling as it floated in loose nets in the Andaman sea near Phuket, southern Thailand.

It was surrounded by plastic bottles and other trash also caught in the net last Tuesday (September 24).

Footage shows two of Anucha's friends using knives to cut free the turtle before it was released back into the ocean.

Anuchasaid: "I always sail out in the sea to go fishing to relax in my spare time. We noticed the poor turtle, which was trapped in the fish catching net.

"Luckily, the turtle was still alive when we found him so we rescued him and let him be free again. My free time was not wasted at all"
