The art of music in Indonesia is indeed very diverse. One of them is Tambua Tansa. This music originates from Minangkabau, West Sumatra.

Art of Tambua Tansa emerged from the Minangkabau traditional drum which is a large wooden tube. With a height of about 40-50 cm, this Tambua musical instrument will produce sounds by being hit.

But the sound produced by Tambua varies depending on the thickness of the wood. The instrument that is covered with goat skin and drum heads on both sides will then be tightened with a loop of string. The strings on this instrument are also used to carry the drum to the player's body.

Tambua Tansa art was originally intended to gather crowds at marriages, mutual cooperation, and other traditional events. With its loud music it is used to call the villagers to gather.

But today Tambua Tansa music art is also often used to welcome guests of honor, such as officials and certain famous figures. It will hypnotize the audience who hears it sway.

This art is played by four musicians. To make it more crowded, the art of Tambua Tansa music is usually played with the accompaniment of other musical instruments such as panduak or sarunai pupuik, rice stem pupuik, and talempong.

The history of the development of the Minangkabau music began in the Batu Hampa area of ​​Lubuk Basung District. From here, Tambua Tansa spreads and is known by the people in Tanjung Raya Subdistrict and also the people of Lake Maninjau.
