Hundreds of climate activists were arrested on Monday (October 7), the first day of Extinction Rebellion’s planned two-week shutdown of central London.

Day one (5th October) of the Extinction Rebellion protest at the Trafalgar Square site saw hundreds of protesters descend on the location in several vehicles and large scale structures to blocking roads leading out from the square.

Other activists were atop wooden temporary structures and remaining on a large wooden stage to prevent police dismantling and destroying it.
