Hundreds of bank notes scattered across the ground after ATMs are attacked in Hong Kong
Hundreds of bank notes were seen scattered across the ground yesterday (Mon) after violent protests in Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong dollar bills, worth hundreds of pounds, were in front of a damaged Bangk of China ATM center in Sheng Shui, New Territories.
Authorities had closed off the area with tape to preserve evidence and prevent money from being looted.
The building owned by the Bank of China - a symbol of the apparent oppressors on the mainland - was riddled with graffiti during riots the night before.
Filipino migrant worker Lore Abling said she was out to do some shopping when she passed by the area in the morning.
She said: ''There was a lot of cash, just laying there. There were other damaged shops in the area too and the station was damaged.''
The 2019 Hong Kong protests, also known as the Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Movement, are an ongoing series of demonstrations in Hong Kong which began with the aim to oppose the introduction of the Fugitive Offenders amendment bill proposed by the Hong Kong government.
