This is the moment a leopard that strayed into a residential area pounced on a sleeping pet dog.

Footage filmed by a CCTV camera on October 11 in the Nashik district of Maharashtra state, shows the big cat stalk the sleeping pooch and then strike.

The leopard then runs away with the family pet in its jaws.

Locals are reported to be very concerned by the presence of the big cat in their neighbourhood.

The visual, which was caught in CCTV cameras, took place on Oct. 11 in Chitegaon area of Maharashtra's Nashik district.

Visuals showed the leopard quickly sneaking into the area.

Once it spots the sleeping pooch, it swiftly attacks and runs away with it.

Reports said the adolescent dog belonged to a local family.

Meanwhile, the leopard's presence has ensued panic.

Locals have questioned their security.
