An Australian cattle dog from northern Virginia is able to distinguish between a school bus and an aircraft as they appear on a television screen in the family home.

Footage from October 2 shows service dog Boba answer the question correctly by signalling on the correct "yes" or "no" piece of paper.

Boba's owner told Newsflare: "Boba the blue heeler (a.k.a. an Australian cattle dog) has been learning to answer yes/no questions about his environment based on his extensive vocabulary.

"When asked if an airplane on TV was a school bus, he answered no. When asked if it was an airplane, he answered yes.

"Boba is an 18-month-old over-achieving service dog in training who understands well over 150 words/phrases so far.

"He also has an odd toy arranging behaviour, can match basic shapes, correctly answers yes/no questions & is learning to count.

"He lives in northern Virginia with his parents where he is homeschooled by his mother."
