A bus driver found a python stuck inside the engine of a vehicle sparking panic from terrified passengers.

The driver, Phuvadol Deenak, 40, felt a sudden jolt while he was travelling in Rayong, eastern Thailand last Thursday (October 10) afternoon.

He pulled over and lifted the bonnet where the 12ft long reptile was wrapped around parts of the engine.

Shocked passengers watched as rescued workers dragged out the serpent, which was coiled around the machinery.

They spent 20 minutes pulling at the snake before it released its grip.

Driver Phuvadol believes the snake might come from a swamp near his house before he began collecting people that day.

He said: "I parked the car near my house before I came out for work. I think the snake must have slithered from the swamp nearby and entered the engine by going up through the wheel.

"When I felt a bump, I stopped to check and found the python. Some of the passengers were scared and ran away.''

The python was put into the sack and released back to the wild.
