The craze called fire-paan has gained recent popularity with visitors in Delhi, India, who can find the treat sold at various food stalls in the street markets.

Traditionally, paan has been enjoyed across the country for centuries where it is consumed after a heavy meal as a mouth freshener.

A mixture of local herbs such as cloves, betel nuts and cardamom among other ingredients are wrapped up in a betel leaf for people to chew then either spit out or swallow.
