Leopard trapped in barbed wire rescued after marathon operation in west India
A leopard stuck in barbed wire for several hours was finally rescued by a team of volunteers and forest department officials in western India's Maharashtra state.
The incident took place on October 20 near Ozar town in Nashik district.
Visual shows the injured leopard snarling while trying to get out of the wire, however, it was unable to do so.
After tranquillising it, rescuers, with the help of a snare, towels and safety nets, proceeded with their mission.
A wire cutter was used to cut through the barbed wire and once it was removed, the leopard was carefully pulled out and placed in a metal cage.
After making sure the leopard was safely kept inside the cage, the shutter was pulled down.
Reports said the leopard was trapped after it tried to sneak through the hole on a boundary wall guarded by barbed wires.
Once stuck, the aggressive leopard tried to get itself out and bit the wires in the process.
It remained stuck for at least seven hours before help arrived.
Reports said the leopard was under observation of government veterinary doctors for 38 hours before it was released back into the wild.
