Forest officials in northeastern India used a digger on Saturday (October 26) to rescue a young elephant trapped in a well.

Tea pickers in Jalpaiguri in West Bengal state discovered the 7-year-old animal at the bottom of the 15-foot water source and called the forest department.

Officials arrived and worked for two hours with a digger to open the sides of the well so that the stricken elephant could crawl to safety.

According to reports, the animal was due to be diverted away from the immediate area towards a nearby forest.

Today morning Tea garden workers heard noise of elephants when they went to see they saw a elephant was in 15 feet well d crying for help. The workers called the forest department. The forest department officials arived at 7.30 am after seeing the situation spoke to Higher authority who with the help of Miltary contintemet open the gate of the area where a small forest is their as after the rescue thus is the place where the elephant would run for shelter.
The forest officials with the help of JCB machine took around 2 hours to rescue the elephant.
After the rescue the Elephant ran towards the Miltary cointnmet where in the night the elephant would be diverted to nearyby forest.
