Heartstopping moment elephant charges at locals, injuring one in eastern India

A man in eastern India's West Bengal lived to tell his tale after being attacked by a wild elephant.

The incident took place earlier in Sept. 2 in Jhargram district.

Visual shows a male wild tusker standing in the middle of a field as locals surrounding it.

A man musters his courage and ventures near the pachyderm, however, it soon backfires as the agitated elephant snaps at him, sending him running helter-skelter for his life.

The elephant runs towards the man, who slips while escaping.

Fortunately, the manages to roll over and escape getting trampled by the pachyderm.

The tusker also tries to back peddle a few times, however, the man evades successfully.

Meanwhile, onlookers try to distract the pachyderm while it charges towards the man but fails to pacify it.

According to reports, the man has been identified as Binoy Mahato.

Mahato sustained minor injuries as he fell down while running away from the tusker.

Reports said the tusker had strayed away from the forest and entered a residential area in search of food.
