This was the moment residents of San Bernardino were evacuated as the Hillside Fire spread this morning (October 31).

Footage shows multiple fires in the distance on the hillside, while the strong wind is picked up by the audio suggesting that this fire will spread fast.

The filmer said: "This was taken around 2:30 am from my front yard.

"This was before the fire jumped mountains and spread behind Newberry Memorial Park, and before houses caught fire.

"It was taken in the area that mandatory evacuations were put in place."
