Bookmakers: poor neighborhood, secured game
The Regional Federation of Neighborhood Associations has prepared a study that numbers 400 gaming venues and locates them, mostly, in areas with low or medium low incomes. Gambling houses are not randomly distributed, but there is a pattern. According to the study, they are preferably “within the western margin of the central almond and in the southern suburbs near the M-30. In peripheral positions and there are few in large concentrations in Aluche-Vista Alegre-San Isidro, Moscardó-Almendrales, San Diego-Numancia, Sol, Bellas Vistas and Quintana. And, in those spaces, certain streets and surroundings stand out: Bravo Murillo, Alcalá, Marcelo Usera, General Ricardos, Avda. of the Albufera. This proximity, the FRAVM proposes a series of measures. Among them, the creation of “Areas of Special Protection of Vulnerable Population”, to elaborate special municipal plans for the regulation of the establishment of the establishments, the creation of new specific spaces for alternative leisure for young people and adolescents or to include in the educational programs prevention and detection of risk behaviors associated with gambling.
