Veterans of the Second World War gathered in Westminster Abbey, London on Thursday (November 7) to lay tributes to members of the Armed Forces who lost their lives in combat.

WWII veterans give tribute to fallen soldiers in the Field of Remembrance in the grounds of Westminster Abbey.

Now in its 91st year, the Field of Remembrance was started by Major George Howson, who founded the Poppy Factory, and a handful of war veterans.

There are 380 individual plots representing millitary associations and organisations this year, with memorials commemorating service personnel who lost their lives in conflict from the Great War, Second World War to Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Garden of Remembrance is open to the public from the 7th to the 14th November.
