Indian forest officials rescue crocodile from 60-foot-deep well
A crocodile managed to swim down into a 60-foot-deep on some farmland in south India, prompting a lengthy rescue operation.
Srinivasulu, a farmer in Mastipuram village in Wanaparthy district of Telangana, spotted a crocodile in his well on October 26.
The crocodile had flown with the water drawn from a nearby canal and fallen into the well during the night.
The farmer called the forest officials immediately, who rushed immediately to rescue the reptile. One of them went down the well and managed to tie up the crocodile with ropes, which was then lifted up with a crane.
The crocodile was later released at the nearby Krishna River.
Villagers said frequent sightings of crocodiles had created a panic in the region. “Forest officials should catch the crocodiles and shift them somewhere else,“ Ramulu, a farmer said.
