This fortunate skier managed to narrowly escape being dragged into an avalanche on a mountain near Mestia, Georgia.

Footage captured in February 2017, which has recently been shared by Shako Margiani, shows the skier's dangerous descent.

As Margiani made his way down the slope, a section of snow began to crack and swiftly cascaded down the mountain almost dragging the skier down too.

Fortunately, he managed to keep his balance and stay upright.

Margiani told Newsflare that his situation was "not so promising" but he managed to escape without any injuries.

He also added that in 2023 they've had a high avalanche risk this season.
