Colourful floats took part in this year's Loy Krathong float procession in Chiang Mai, Thailand on Tuesday (November 12).

Loy Krathong festival honours the "Goddess of Water".

Locals believe that the offerings to the water spirit will bring them good luck over the next year.

A parade at the end of the festival of lights and water in Chiang Mai,Thailand. Loy Krathong remembers the goddess of water and is held on the first full moon of the twelfth lunar month, this year it's November 12. The purpose is to thank the river goddess for providing life to the fields and forests and to ask forgiveness for us polluting waterways. People release small floats into rivers and canals and enjoy entertainments. In Chiang Mai where this video was shot, the festival is also known as Yi Peng.

China had the best float in the grand parade of Loy Krathong in Chiang Mai, while the USA was ...there also. The message on the chinese float was that it's the 70th anniversary of the PRC. America mentioned 200 years of friendship with Thailand.
