Footage shows locals worshiping a sacred tree to choose their next lottery numbers.
The 40ft long 'hopea odorata' trunk is believed to be inhabited by a female spirit who brings good luck to her followers.
Superstitious residents gathered round the tree in Uthai Thani, northern Thailand, on Nobember 15 to look for signs of numbers in the patterns on the bark.
They believe that the ghost of 'Nang Ta-khian', a beautiful young woman from Buddhist folklore, will guide them to winning numbers.
Residents said the felled tree has become a popular attraction for the bi-monthly state lottery draws. They tied coloured ribbons around it and rub powder onto the bark.
