Crocodile lurking in village well for a year rescued in northwestern India
The tireless efforts of the forest department officials resulted in a successful rescue of a juvenile crocodile in northwestern India's Rajasthan.
The incident took place on June 20 in Desuri region in the state's Pali district.
The visuals show the rescuer getting into the dried well with the help of the locals and later pulled up the crocodile after tying it with a rope.
According to the reports, the reptile fell into the well situated in Gurha Bhopsingh village and was stuck there for a year.
The village dwellers informed that the reptile had fallen into the well a year ago and they had tried to fetch the latter, but to no avail.
The rescue operation was aborted due to the depth of the water in the well, the forest officials informed.
The reptile was completely dependent on the owner of the well who threw food and live fishes for its survival.
The villagers spotted the crocodile amidst summer season when the water level went down, informing the officials about the same.
The rescue operation began after the team drew around 4-5 litres of water from the well.
The baby crocodile was heaved to the safety edge and was released in the water body in the vicinity.
