A Philippine Airline plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport after flames began bursting from one of its engines.

The flight took off just after 11 am from Los Angeles International Airport bound for Manila, but turned back less than an hour later.

The video, filmed on Thursday (November 21) captures the unnerving sound of the engine rattling and the horrifying moment passengers onboard released one of the engines was on fire.

The filmer told Newsflare: "The passengers were really calm and the crew and pilot were great at ensuring that everyone knew that everything is under control and were turning around to land.

"With a plane full of mostly Catholic Pilipinos, I think it was calm because when it all started happening, they were quietly praying for our safety.

"One woman with two small kids and her partner passed out and they had to get paramedics there to get her off of the plane... they took her and her family out safely and she was okay.

"The aftermath was challenging for them though. They didn’t have a great plan as to how to re-book everyone’s flights and it was a frustrating process.

"Some people said they were freaked out and didn’t want to fly again. I think a lot of people cancelled their flights and some got on flights for the following days."

Luckily, all passenger landed safety.
