Several construction workers had a narrow escape after a 200-year-old bridge collapsed in Muzzafarnagar in Northern India on November 4.

The bridge built across Kali river during the British era had been decommissioned two years ago and a government agency, Setu Nigam, has been building a new alternative bridge.

Construction workers, who were building the new bridge, were close to the dilapidated structure when it started crumbling. They shouted caution and ran to safety as it came down under its own weight.

J S Sayana, Executive Engineer of Setu Nigam, said no one was injured in the incident.
