This is the shocking moment schoolchildren were seen riding to school on top of a dumpster truck.

The youngsters clambered onto the vehicle for the journey to school in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on November 15.

Footage shows them sitting calmly on the piles of stones, which were being delivered to a construction site in the area.

Wearing their white school shirts and rucksacks, the breeze blows through the hair as dozens of vehicles whizz past below them.

Passing motorist Sophal said he felt sorry for them as they live too far from the school to use buses.

Sophal added: ''There is no bus for them to use and they don't have cars or motorcycles. They live too far from the school to walk so they have to risk their lives by sitting on top of the truck to ride there.''
