Around 160 guests were evacuated after a fire broke out at a Travelodge in Brentford, west London, in the early hours of Wednesday morning (December 4).

One guest named Jay, who was staying at the hotel, said: "The fire went up the inside of the cladding and into the roof. Everything on level four could be potentially affected.

"We heard the smoke alarms go off and we just thought it was a general false alarm so we got dressed, came downstairs and saw it wasn't a false alarm. Looked to the lefthand side of the building and seen the bike shed was on fire."

Around 100 firefighters were called to the blaze which has now been brought under control. The cause of the fire is unknown.
