Armed criminals broke into a shop and killed a businessman, who tried to resist, in Patna, North India, on December 2.

Harihar Prasad, 72, the owner of SK Textile, who dealt with mosquito nets, was sitting at the counter when two men barged in brandishing pistols and demanding money.

Prasad stood up and tried to fight back when one of the robbers shot him point blank, while another took Rs 70,000 (745 GBP) from counter. They then fired two rounds outside the shop and escaped on a bike.

A CCTV camera at the shop filmed the incident.

Local shopkeepers shut down their shops to protest against growing crimes in the city. "The attack was so brazen, the two men did not even bother to mask their faces," said Krishna Lal, who sells garments nearby.

Police recovered live cartridges and a 7.65 mm pistol from the spot. They said they have clues from the CCTV footage and are probing the crime.
