Runaway leopard that forced people lock themselves indoors, rescued after 17 hours in northwestern India
CCTV footage had captured a runaway leopard prowling in the residential area of Jaipur, located in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
The incident first came into light on December 12.
The wild cat was seen moving from the residential area to a college located in the same locality.
To prevent any casualties the police had temporarily stopped the traffic and employed a drone to track the leopard.
Based on the information received, the forest department officials along with the police had conducted an unsuccessful overnight search.
They believe that the feline had moved to Reserve Bank of India office which is adjacent to the Subodh college, where the animal's last image was captured.
The search operation was of primary importance as many distinguished government officials buildings were located in and around the area where the leopard had strayed.
Finally, the leopard was captured after an intense search operation of 19 hours.
