A hero driver helped stop an out-of-control heavy-goods vehicle after it rear-ended his own truck on a highway in southwestern China.

CCTV video filmed on G56 Hangzhou–Ruili Expressway on November 25 shows a truck driving in front of another heavy goods vehicle along the road, with smoke rising up.

According to reports, the truck at the back lost control after the driver pressed the brake too often when driving down a slope. It then crashed into a car before rear-ending another truck. The experienced driver of the truck in front, named locally only as Mr Yu, managed to bring both vehicles under control by driving in front of the vehicle behind for around six kilometres.

Yu finally brought both trucks to a halt at the foot of an uphill road.

11月25日下午，在杭瑞高速公路黄草坝至潞江大桥32公里的长下坡路段，上演了惊魂一幕。据监控视频显示，两辆大货车紧紧地挂在一起，行驶在高速公路长下坡路段，后车已经开始冒烟。原来，后面这辆大货车行驶至长下坡路段时，司机频繁踩刹车，导致刹车疲软，最终彻底失去控制，一路驶出500米左右后撞到了一辆小轿车，继续前行了1公里左右又撞上了视频中前面这辆大货车，并拖挂到一起，两车“连体”狂奔。

有着10多年驾龄的于师傅常年在这条路上跑运输，经验丰富的他立即冷静下来，做出了一个常人难以想象的决定，他并没有摆脱后车，而是用点刹的方式控制住两辆负重共100吨的庞然大物，在行驶过程中寻找合适的机会。
就这样两辆车一路拖挂前行，最危险时车速已经达到了每小时70公里，比正常时速超速了10多公里，当行驶出6公里后，两车来到潞江大桥一个小上坡路段，于师傅立马抓住机会将车辆慢慢地停了下来。胆大心细的于师傅让这起交通事故化险为夷，有效地避免了人员伤亡，两辆大货车也只是轻微受损。
