This spectacular parade was held in north-eastern Thailand's Sakon Nakhon province yesterday (December 23).

The area is home to one of the country's largest Christian populations, who every year build dozens of floats adorned with bright lights to celebrate the religious holiday.

Thailand's largest Christian community in Sakon Nakhon province celebrates christmas with a series of parades. This one is in Thalae district of the province, which has a large Roman catholic community which originated from Vietnamese immigrants. This parade comprising of dozens of floats began at the St. Michael Cathedral. The Santas threw candies to onlookers. Known as the Star Parade, it remembers the birth of Jesus Christ.
