This is the moment dozens of locals began looting bottles of fizzy pop which spilled from a passing truck.

The vehicle was making a narrow turn in an intersection in Quezon City, the Philippines when its side door flung open on December 17.

No one was hurt in the incident but broken glass and plastic cases were left scattered on the road.

While some of the people in the video extended help, onlooker Ramil Roco said that the looters took advantage while the truck driver was busy talking with the authorities.

They were seen carrying away crates full of soda on their shoulders.

Ramil said: ''Even though the bottles fell onto the road, they still belong to the company. People would not do this in a shop so I don't know why they think it is OK to do it in the street.

''Some people helped but others were stealing the drinks for themselves.''

The incident, caused by a broken lock on one of the doors, lead to heavy traffic in the area which is one of the major routes in the city.
