Flood waters in Indonesia's West Java have submerged hundreds of homes and places of worship.

Footage filmed on Friday (December 20) in Bukittinggi city, West Sumatra province shows some homes submerged in up to 3.5ft of water.

According to local journalist and filmer Wahyu Lelo, it is the third time such flooding has taken place in Bukittinggi this year, although the cuurent floods are the worst.

No deaths were reported.

Floods have damaged homes and submerged mosques in western Indonesia.

In footage filmed on Friday (December 20) in Bukittinggi city, West Sumatra province shows hundreds of houses at lowes submerged with altitudes varying from 2 to 3.5 feet.

Heavy flood hit in this area broke down the walls of Datuk Sawah Gadang's family home.

Bed in the room and cooking tool in the kitchen washed away up to 100 feet into the rice fields behind the house.

Homeowners say floods occur during heavy rains for three hours since 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.

"Rainfall is too heavy. Swift water coming from the front is unbearable and enters the house making the walls burst. Thank God my family can be saved," Datuk said.

Aside from houses, floods also submerged mosques. The water level in the mosque reaches 3 feet.

Morning after the flood, residents worked together to draining water and clean up the mud that was brought by the flood.

There were no fatalities in this incident, the victim suffered financial loss.
