The incident took place in a small town of Medchal located in Malkajgiri district in the south Indian state of Telangana on December 23.
Visuals show the toddler straying into the construction site while playing with a ball.
The boy is seen tossing his ball and chasing it around the open ditch, the set of actions are repeated by him a couple of times.
Playfully he throws the ball into the pit.
In a bid to fetch the ball, he slips and falls into the water filled pit.
A few moments later a two-wheeler is seen passing by.
According to the reports, the child, identified as Anjaneyulu, is the son of daily wage workers.
The parents had left the boy unsupervised and had only noticed his absence when they returned home.
