Monitor lizard caught after raiding chicken coop and chasing locals
A wild monitor lizard is caught after raiding a chicken coop and chasing locals who tried to intervene.
Thiwa Seangnok was in his house when he heard people screaming as the reptile ran amok in Chonburi, eastern Thailand on Wednesday (19/12) evening.
He contacted the local rescue team to catch the 44lbs lizard, which had retreated into a nearby garage.
Thiwa said he saw the monitor lizard had chased chickens in the village before terrifying people when it bared its teeth at them.
He said: "I saw the monitor lizard poking around the chicken hutch before it was startled by the locals and started chasing them around."
The lizard was finally caught when it was strapped with protective tape. Rescuers then released it back into the wild.
