Local residents of a village in the Indian state of Bihar came to the rescue of a stray dog with its head stuck in a plastic container.

A video filmed in Rikabganj on December 27th shows the poor canine wandering the streets blind with the empty tub wedged tightly over its head.

An unidentified man and a woman work together to pull the container from the animal's head and the mongrel runs off seemingly unharmed.

An act of kindness showcased by the locals who rescued a stray dog who had a hard time getting its head out from the plastic container in east Indian state of Bihar.

According to reports, the incident took place on December 27 in Bela Rikabganj village located in Srinagar region in the state's Purnia district.

Visuals show the canine goes in circles in a helpless attempt to get rid of its current dilemma.

Locals from the vicinity gather to help the dog get rid of the vessel stuck around its neck.

The rescuers constantly try to remove the container while the exhausted quadruped tries to escape from the scene.

After getting hold of the dog, the tireless efforts of the rescuer resulted in successfully removing the vessel.

Finally, getting its freedom after being confined inside the container the dog immediately runs away.

Getting back to its senses the stray then searches for food from the trash.

The locals have informed that the plastic container was stuck inside the dog's head since last night and was then rescued the next morning.
