For Los Cocos, the blades start to spin when there is a wind current of 4 meters per second (m/sec), at 14 revolutions per minute (RPM) at 60 hertz, which is then elevated to 690 volts as mentioned before. When the wind speed hits 25 m/sec, the blades turn 90 degrees to lock in and prevent further movement. The speed and wind patterns are constantly being monitored by EGE Haina's central computer, along with the staff of engineers on-site.
