Leader of People Against Apartheid & Fascism addresses media during Citizen Amendment Act protests at Indian Consulate in Cape Town

The  CAA and NRC protests, the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and National Register of Citizens protests, or the CAB and NRC protests, are a series of ongoing protests in India, against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), which was enacted into law on 12 December 2019, and against proposals to enact a nationwide National Register of Citizens (NRC).The protests began in Assam,Delhi, Meghalaya,[51] Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura on 4 December 2019. Thousands took to the streets in India to protest the laws, with images of the violent clashes being broadcast around the world.

In South Africa, the People Against Apartheid & Fascism (PAAF) movement was formed to protest the laws and to highlight the issue to the South African and Indian governments.

PAAF is led by attorney Rehana Khan Parker. PAAF led the protesters on a march from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology through the Cape Town CBD and ended with a picket outside the Indian Consulate. The Indian Consul_General and his staff were not available to receive the memorandum from the group.
