An Austrian parachutist who was stranded 820ft from the ground on a cliff has been rescued this afternoon (January 13).

Johannes Grasser, 28, leapt from from the peak of Khao Ok Thalu, a mountain in Phatthalung, southern Thailand.

But his parachute snagged on the sharp cliff edge and he was left dangling precariously 820ft from the ground - with one slip meaning he will plunge to his death.

Footage shows him stranded on the steep cliff face, tangled in ropes and his parachute, while his girfriend stands at the top.

Police, paramedics and rescue workers arrived to help Johannes, from the city of Feldbach, while his partner communicates with a translator.

A rock climber abseiled down the cliff and helped to untangle the Austrian before he was winched to safety late in the afternoon.

The group then helped Johannes back down the mountain before he was taken away in an ambulance.
